Stovetop Summer Berry Crisp

Let's make it

Step 1
In a medium bowl, combine the mixed berries, sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Stir gently until the berries are well coated.
Step 2
In a separate bowl, mix the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Add the chilled butter and mix with your fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 3
Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add the berry mixture and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture begins to thicken.
Step 4
Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the berries in the skillet. Cover the skillet with a lid and reduce the heat to low. Cook for an additional 10 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the berries are bubbly.
Step 5
If using, sprinkle sliced almonds over the top before serving. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream.
Step 6
Garnish with sesame seeds, nori strips, and chopped green onions.
