Why should you get a flu shot?
Protect your friends and family
When you get your flu shot, you avoid exposing those around you, especially those who are at a higher risk or are unable to get the flu shot themselves.
Stay in charge of your health
Because the flu virus evolves so quickly, last year’s vaccine may not protect you from this year’s virus. New flu vaccines are released every year to keep up with rapidly adapting flu viruses.
You’ve missed enough this year
If you get the flu, you’ll likely have to miss a few days from school or work while you rest and recover. Don’t let the flu keep you from doing things you love or need to do.
Flu vs COVID-19
Influenza (flu) and COVID-19 are both contagious respiratory illnesses, but they are caused by different viruses. Both illnesses can cause complications that may require hospitalization, especially in older adults or people with chronic health conditions. While the viruses do share some characteristics, they do have important differences
Flu and COVID-19 are both contagious and can be spread between people through tiny respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks. These droplets can fall near the nose and mouth of people who are close by. Spread is more likely when people are in close contact with one another so it’s important to socially distance at least 6 feet apart. People who are infected with the flu or COVID-19 may be contagious without displaying any symptoms.
